Who Needs You

This my first attempt at a song which i wrote more than a year ago. It is based off of Kirk Franklin's song "Without You," so its not exactly original, but it has a vastly different message...I mean no disrespect tho

Verse 1
I could get an A on any test, and everyone knew my name.
I did whatever I could do to try and earn your acclaim.
I could see your vacant seat, and I pretended like I didn’t care.
And soon a year’s past; I’m growing fast
Regardless of if you are there

Bridge
When I think of who I was, who I am, and who I’ll be,
I try so hard to deny the you that’s in me.
The grape grows from the vine, but somehow in my mind
I won’t accept this as true…

Chorus
Who needs you? Better off on my own.
Who needs you? There’s others to mark my milestones.
Who needs you? Things are goin’ just fine.
And my life is all mine.
Got no reason to pine.
Who needs you?

What's the point

Why am I doing this? What is this page all about? Plain and simple, this is an outlet for self-expression...I feel like writing, but I'm tired of making all these random text files on my computer. With that said, the content of this blog is ME up-close and personal, in your face. I'll be writing poems, songs, short stories, vent-sessions, whatever I feel like at the moment . If you like it, that's cool; if not, well that's cool too. I'm just trying not to bottle up this creative potential inside of me.

As for the name, "Empirically Lyrical," i kind of named it that just because it sounds good and it makes you think....my main point is that these poems and random writing are based on my observations and the way I feel about life. Anyway, so read on and maybe you'll get a glimpse of what I'm trying to say
